Workforce Investment Act (WIA)Career Development Services for Job SeekersCommunity Services Consortium is committed to assisting every Linn, Benton, and Lincoln county citizen in their search for a career that fulfills their goals. The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 has authorized CSC to integrate existing resources into a three levels of services such that all citizens can be assisted in their job search. CORE For many, this service is readily available, is self-paced and requires no eligibility determination. The One-Stop career centers throughout the three county region reference books, videos, career projections, employer profiles, newspaper help wanted ads and labor market information are all available in each of the One-Stop career centers as well as the individual CSC offices. The centers also hold workshops for technical assistance on preparing resumes and cover letters, job search workshops, employment counseling, aptitude and skills testing, and career exploration tools. Staff are available and committed to assist you with your job search questions. To assist you in your job search needs, each Center maintains computers, software, printers, fax machines, and phones to ensure that you will have whatever is needed to be successful. INTENSIVE For some additional one-on-one might be required to remove barriers that might be hindering in a successful job search. For some it might be a lack of job skills, for others it might be an issue of physical limitations, while for others it might simply be the need for periodic trouble-shooting to figure out how to get one’s "foot in the door". To be eligible for this level of service you will need to be income eligible and have shown that CORE services alone are not helping to get a job. One valuable service provided in Intensive Services is "retention services". Simply getting a job is but a start. For CSC, ensuring that you keep the job and where needed, acquire additional skills/training so you can increase your wages is our mission. We are not in the business of getting you a job; we are in the business in helping you along your career ladder.
TRAINING When it becomes apparent that case management assistance alone is not helping to place you onto your career path, a plan will be established with your input to obtain additional occupation skills training designed to increase your ability to become gainfully employed. To be eligible for Training services, it is necessary to show that Intensive services alone are not effective in placing you onto your career path. The State of Oregon has developed a list of trainings which have been documented to show a high probability for successful career State of Oregon Authorized Training List as well as providing you with the greatest potential for self sufficient wages. This three-tiered approach, along with the required integration of combined services from the primary employment and training partners in the region (Community Services Consortium, Adult and Family Services, Oregon Employment Department, community colleges, and Vocational Rehabilitation Department) together work to make best usage of all available resources a citizen is eligible to access.
