Governing Committee Meeting

June 13th, 2007

First Presbyterian Church

Attendees: Anne Swinehart, Bill Hall, David Huntington, Tom Hatley, Richard Sherlock, Cassedea Hansen, Clay

 

1. Draft Plan 2.4

-It is now on the web

-Have received little feedback, but all of it has been positive

-We are ready to move into the next stage of finalizing the plan. There will be a new draft 3.0 and then we will put together a final plan that includes pictures

-Can we get some pictures from the school district and Samaritan House?

-We should put some personal stories in the plan and several statements stating how dire the need is in Lincoln County

-Action Steps, we need to decide the exact numbers that we are going to aim for

-We need to prioritize the Action Steps:

            What are we concentrating on first?

            List priorities in the beginning of the report so that the public knows them

 

2. Action Committees

            a. Project Homeless Connect:  Thursday October 25, 2007

                        -This committee is going really strong

                        - We are still waiting to see if Philip Mangano will be able to make it

                        -Can we get the churches to donate good used sneakers and clean socks?

            b. One-Stop Resource Center

                        -We need to support the Deanna Taber’s efforts in Lincoln City

                        -For the Newport site, we need to determine if we have a location

            c. Capacity Building

                        -Will be put on hold

                        -We need someone to take charge and lead this committee

            d. Workforce Housing

                        -Again, we need someone to lead this committee

                        -We should ask people to join this committee from the Workforce

Housing committees that are already in place and from the

Economic Development Alliance

            e. Community Land Trust (CLT)

                        -Clay is heading up the efforts

                        -In the planning process at this time, he is working on getting a committee

                                    together

 

3. Publicizing the Plan

- We are looking into giving presentations of the plan to several cities to provide the public a chance to view the plan and make a few last minute changes before the county adopts the plan in October

-PHC committee is doing media, posters and flyers for their event

-We have used the radio for publicity and sent out a press release
