Steering Committee

April 26, 2007

First Presbyterian Church

12:00 to 1:00pm

Attendees: Bill Hall, Tom Hatley, Joanne Troy, Kacy Jensen, Richard Sherlock, Cassedea Hansen, Anne Swinehart

Open Door: they have requested to join efforts with the ten-year plan group and disband their organization if the ten-year plan fit their goals.

-From the Stakeholders meeting, we are going to be dividing into two committees, the governing committee and the operating committee. Open Door’s goals will fit into these committees; therefore we support them in joining our efforts and disbanding.

Community Services Consortium’s ‘Continuum of Care’ program will have around $50,000 in funds available for new transitional housing for the 2008-09 fiscal year. If it goes to an organization in Lincoln County, it could help address one of the action steps.

Addressing the issue of incarceration and alcohol/drug abuse is going to be a big hurdle as this is the most difficult population to work with.  Aiding and supporting Thugz Off Drugz and the Oxford House will help and should be considered in our action plan.

Homeless Questionnaires:

-We should clarify what numbers are single households and families.

-What are the numbers when you add in their children or spouses?

-We need to add a disclaimer saying that the comments come from individuals and do not reflect people on the ten-year plan, or change some of the comments to illegal immigrants

Agreement on the new vision statement and new mission statement

In larger cities, there is a person dedicated to the ten-year plan efforts. Potentially add funding for a staff person for this purpose.

Bill Hall suggested having a Project Homeless Connect on the same day as the launch party of our ten-year plan.  We agreed that this would be a great idea. Nancy Smith is going to head up the efforts of planning the Project Homeless Connect.

Next Meeting May 10th, same time and place
