| Alternative SchoolingLEARNING OPPORTUNITY CENTER Community Services Consortium’s (CSC) Learning Opportunities Centers (LOCs) provide education and training through several different programs. Basic skills remediation and job specific training for youth and adults is provided to clients participating in job training through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). In addition to WIA services, each LOC is state accredited and provides credit to students who are referred by their respective local school district. To begin basic skills remediation the youth or adult is given the Adult Basic Education Test. The results assist the student to determine what academic areas need to be of particular focus. Training that is available but not limited to includes: GED preparation, typing and computer training. In addition, during the school year local school districts have the option to refer students from the district to attend the Learning Opportunities Center as one of the district’s alternative educational placements. In order for students to be enrolled in the alternative education program through the school district the student needs to obtain a referral from their school counselor. Once a referral is made an intake appointment is scheduled with the Learning Center’s instructors. CSC’s Learning Opportunities Centers are unique in that they are single classrooms located in a business setting that has one teacher for every five students. CSC LOCs are located: For more information contact the nearest CSC office:
