| IRS trained volunteer TaxAide counselors prepare Federal and State tax returns on computers for middle and lower income persons of all ages. The returns can be e-filed. This free service is available between February 1st and April 15th of each year. Most sites require appointments. | ![]() |
Volunteer Services Needed
Greeter: meets clients at reception area and reviews paperwork to assure it is complete and in proper order for data entry by the counselor.
Counselor: enters client's financial data into tax forms on the computer, prints out a copy of completed Federal and State tax returns for the client, and e-files returns with IRS and State.
Coordinator: arranges for work sites, establishes work schedules for the volunteer counselors, and coordinates all training, recruitment, publicity, statistical reporting, supplies and equipment.
Training: Each year, TaxAide Counselors receive approximately 40 hours of IRS approved training in Tax Law and the utilization of IRS-provided computers and software. Training held at Linn-Benton Community College.
